On my back Vatanai Valensole

I finally have a Vatanai wrap. I justified it as a birthday present for J. He is happy with that. J has not been very happy this week even cranky and screaming a lot. So I have been taking the opportunity to carry him more around the house.
I have found it much easier to deal with than the Didymos, probably due to the weight and length.

I even managed to get J on my back though I needed help to tie it.

Sew what

My daughter came with me when I went to Spotlight the other day to get some inexpensive cotton (Anchor Magicline $9.95 for 10 balls). She was asking to make something for her friend who is having a party on Friday. Of course drawing and making cards is a given but she wanted to do something more. We decided to give hand sewing a felt doll a go. It is her project but I was there to help her.

The sewing missed a few holes but for her first handsewn item she did fine.
I think she did a fantastic job with the embroidery like she is a natural. That talent she did not get from me.

Even my eldest son wanted to try sewing.

Small things in soy

A seamless crochet singlet which I am happy with though a little tight on J.

I had thought of making baby underwear for a while. Here is my attempt. I am happy with them.

The singlet and underwear are crocheted in soysilk.

Also another pair of slippers, this time in Karaoke soy/wool.

Fame

I handdyed the organic aran merino a lovely yellow and I really like it, surprisingly.
Legwarmers handknitted for J. Hopefully they will fit  a while and provide warmth under cotton pants.

Fixation summer hat

Fixation is a cotton with elastic content. Its hard to work with at first but much easier than using knitting in elastic like I have done in years past.

A hat that may stay on longer than most and stretches to fit.

Malabrigo singletsuit and slippers

I had an idea for a crochet singlet early one morning and crocheted this suit up that day. I am very happy with it though its a little tight on J. It has buttons for a crotch opening.

These slippers were so quick and easy. Made in Malabrigo which is nice to work with.

Mouse amigurumi

Cute and quick amigurumi mouse crocheted in felting wool hand dyed in Wangaratta which I bought on our last roadtrip. It has no eyes  and I may still add them but for now I like the simplicity.

MM Jar Swap September 2009

How awesome is this caped top? It has guitar print that matches pants he has.

It has an A on the front. Can you tell he is rapt? He is Superman or a Dragon most days.

Awesome stitch markers, 12ply organic (colourway Kym's!) wool and sticks, candles and pin.
Love it all!
Received from someone who doesn't call herself crafty but she is definitely artistic.

The kids had so much fun opening it all up and oohing and ahhing over it all!

My parcel has been sent and received. Included is organic crocheted hairscarf, butterfly washcloths with seashell ring as well as baby clothes, fabric and notions, fairtrade chocolate.

Making the most of the every day

 Just because....

{love}

The kids are on 3 week school holiday as they change campuses. This week has gone very fast with us trying to make the most of the big kids being home.
We went to the Drive In and saw GForce and Up. Great value for families thats for sure and its a novelty.

Unfortunately J has been not his usual self the past week. I wonder if its teeth or growing pains. Or is this the new cranky toddler version? He was never really a demanding baby so I may have to adapt to save my sanity.

J's 1st birthday dinner

J ate up a storm for dinner though probably double was piffed to the floor. He even enjoyed his cup with water for the first time.

After a sunny day, the rain came down.
We went home for cake where my boy decided to sleep and take a raincheck.

My littliest boy is one

My littliest boy is one!

My littliest boy is one! He received a new outfit and quilt cover for the bed he will sleep in eventually.
We went to the playground to play.

We had a visit from family and J was asleep so he was woken by his cousin.

He tried the cake Nana made.

Star Dangled Hat

Hat crocheted from aran organic merino hand coloured by me. Its a great pattern and easily adapted. I modified to fit J though it stretches to fit Av as awell.
A year ago I could only dream of crocheting things like this.
