I really like surprises!

I got a surprise in the mail from Jodie.

I don't feel I deserve such a lovely gift but I appreciate it all the same.

Swimming

Sometimes Daddy takes the kids swimming. We prefer the beach but the pool is closer. We are having some warmer weather so J and I came along.

This was J's first time in the pool. He was weary at first but once in he was content.

Av has great water confidence, putting his head and face under the water, which is something the big kids still struggle to do.
The three big kids want to have swimming lessons now, just for fun. The two eldest have been to lessons through the school before.

Rollerskates

Early birthday present...

Mitred crochet blanket

Av's birthday blanket

Here is the finished crocheted mitred blanket in Anchor Magicline cotton ready for Av's 4th birthday on Monday. It was fun and a little challenging for me to make.

Neighbours

Neighborly is a great pattern for a tunic play style top. It fits all my boys which I really like and it was ajoy to knit especially with the yarns, Noro Kureyon, Lanaloft and 1824 wool.

Finger Painting

Av wanted to do some painting but we had no paintbrushes or paper!. We ended up doing dome finger and hand painting. He did his hands and a butterfly and spider.

We have no real internet access at the moment. We can use MSN but thats it. Strange but true.  ITs actually interesting using the internet cafe, the computer and access is fast but the company is not that much fun! We leave the kids at home with their Aunty so we can get more done *sigh*

MM handmade swap October 2009

We received a cotton set with cable hat and cable vest in cotton in the MM handmade swap. Its absolutely stunning!
It fits Av and J!

Mocking Mama

Like most toddlers, J is not keen on hats. I like to make ones that can tie on so they don't just disappear.
This one is a toddler bonnet in Purple Mystery Malabrigo chunky. It fits Av very well.

Molasses and Capri

J is now 13 months and walking everywhere.
Alpaca shortalls crocheted in Blue Sky organic sportweight alpaca.

The straps are a little long but otherwise I am very happy with the fit.

Organic Bombay

J has been so sweet lately, giving kisses. He also whacks me and bites. But the adorable kisses make up for it. He is very keen to walk around the house and spends a great time of the day just walking.
Unfortunately we haven't been very well at our house with a nasty bug going aroud even affecting Mama.
But I have enjoyed just hanging out with the family.

Bombay Love is a very quick pattern and cute too. I did get confused with the tie and I need to fix it on to the body better and then it will be great!
Made with Blue Sky undyed organic cotton and edged with Debbie Bliss Eco cotton.

Orange yoked sweater

I had wanted to try Blue Sky organic cotton for a while.
This is a yoked sweater worked up easily and quickly.
I reckon it looks awesome on J

All the small things

I have been making a few small things, some for gifts.
We have been watching a new movie called 9. My daughter asked me to make a character and though it looks nothing like them, she is happy with it.

Baby bonnet

I think this is the forth time I have made this baby bonnet, its quick cute and sweet.
I used a small amount of Zanz 5ply merino/nylon.

First tooth lost

My son literally lost his first tooth in the grass at the Zoo on Saturday.

He is 6 and a half.

The adult tooth has started to come through already. I saw it on the day back to school.

His eczema is not too bad at the moment though his skin is slightly dry and contact allergies are the main culprit around his mouth. He has been such a chatterbox lately, always full of amazing questions and curiousity. He was so excited to return to school, at the new campus. He was only frustrated there is no basketball court or oval

Melbourne Zoo

We were invited to a Thankyou function for St John volunteers at the Melbourne Zoo. It was all paid for and so much fun for the family.

We also took another cadet, my daughter's friend.

We didn't get to see many animals being late in the afternoon.

The BBQ was great and not what I expected. Good food! There was fairy floss, face painting, jumping castle, music and more.

Shalom

Cruddy photo of myself in my Shalom. I am very happy with this. Knitted in Cascade Eco 12ply.

Toddler

J has been taking steps on his own for a few weeks now. He was up and walking late last night after having a rare long nap. He loves to play with the ball.

Crocheted tank

Crocheted tank top for baby in Blue Sky Alpaca skinny organic cotton (8ply). Its a little small/short for J but I love it anyway. It has a little button on the front.

J has been taking more steps on his own.

Organic Spare Ribs

This is the 4th shoaker I have made so I made it from memory which made the grafting in rib a learning experience.

I used 6mm to make it bigger.
The yarn is organic merino from the Dye Pot received in the MM jarswap.
Its a gorgeous colourway.

Cotton tee

I saw this pattern and it was similar to what I tried to make just last week, so I started it right away with scraps of organic cotton and  Sierra (wool/cotton).

I used 10ply with 5mm to hopefully fit J.

Handmade gifts

Crocheted dragon for Av's birthday.

Hairscarfs for birthday gifts.

Newborn sweetness

Hat and mittens crocheted in Fixation cotton/elastic for a friend's newborn baby (yet unnamed) who is absolutely gorgeous.
