Handmade buttons and a jacket for me

I wanted to try making some unique buttons for my projects. I at first tried Sculpey III then Premo which I prefer.

Hoot! Hoot! Rocky Creek

Knitted owl cables are cool but I think crocheted cables especially owl cables are cooler!

 

I wanted to crochet a pair of overalls with a bib and brace. I like the back of these. I had an idea, tried it and it worked. 

 

Crocheted from cestari from The Yarn Cafe.  The edges are crab stitch in a super bulky Cestari.

I have been working on a few things for a swap as well as these.

 

This was meant for my daughter's birthday but I waited a while for the yellow to arrive. It is Woolganics 10ply. My daughter requested a shawl in blue/pink/yellow.

 

Another tikki test singlet. This one is in Debbie Bliss Eco cotton. I love this colour.

 

Here is J wearing the singlet and another Vanilla, this time in 14ply Shetland and super bulky undyed Cestari.

 

A dress I made for my Mum to give my cousin who is due to have a baby next month.

 

I have also been making a few hats.

Christmas presents handmade

I wanted to make as many Christmas presents as possible and it was stressful but I also enjoyed it and I felt that it was worth it.

For my brother and sister in law I made a felted drawstring bag, kitchen things like a turtle potholder and tea towel with crocheted topper.

 

For my Mum I made kitchen things too.

Cotton grocery bag and hotpad crocheted from t-shirt type yarn. I didn't make the yarn but I would like to do that to recycle old t-shirts.

Versatile hat for value

 

I love this. It is a neckwarmer, hat, bad hair day cover up!

Crocheted from beflecked BMW, I love the colours.

Av wanted a bee and so he has one!

A bag crocheted from string for oranges.

 

I used up the last of my own coloured aran organic merino making a newborn elf hat. It is very cute.

Striped dragon hood.

This became somewhat a community project! Av coloured the yarns and decided he wanted me to make him a dragon hat. The boys picked a button and my 6 year old sewed on the button.

He was asking why I didn't use the sewing machine to sew the button on so I showed him that it's easy enough to do it by hand. He was surprised at how quick and easy it was.

I wasn't too sure about the stripes but the colours are amazing and makes for a fun hat. The heat has been on lately yet Av still wants to wear the hat. It is knit in aran organic merino.

For my Mum

I made my Mum a few things and a bag for her birthday. Shhhh, she hasn't recieved it yet.

 

Molasses and Capri

J is now 13 months and walking everywhere.
Alpaca shortalls crocheted in Blue Sky organic sportweight alpaca.

The straps are a little long but otherwise I am very happy with the fit.

Organic Bombay

J has been so sweet lately, giving kisses. He also whacks me and bites. But the adorable kisses make up for it. He is very keen to walk around the house and spends a great time of the day just walking.
Unfortunately we haven't been very well at our house with a nasty bug going aroud even affecting Mama.
But I have enjoyed just hanging out with the family.

Bombay Love is a very quick pattern and cute too. I did get confused with the tie and I need to fix it on to the body better and then it will be great!

All the small things

I have been making a few small things, some for gifts.

We have been watching a new movie called 9. My daughter asked me to make a character and though it looks nothing like them, she is happy with it.

Baby bonnet

I think this is the forth time I have made this baby bonnet, its quick cute and sweet.

I used a small amount of Zanz 5ply merino/nylon.

Mouse amigurumi

Cute and quick amigurumi mouse crocheted in felting wool hand dyed in Wangaratta which I bought on our last roadtrip. It has no eyes  and I may still add them but for now I like the simplicity.

One week

In one week my littlest boy will be one year old. This time last year I was (over)due to have my forth child. I then had 5 days of prelabour before my son arrived into my arms while my older children slept in their rooms and my husband sat beside me near our birth pool.


We had a warm day here in Melbourne where it was 28 degrees. I started to think about making some shorties for J. After a failed attempt in another colourway of Malabrigo, I used Noro Kureyon for the body and added Malabrigo for the waist, gusset and legs.

My boy rarely stops smiling, which is lovely. He has a sci fi head when he's upset. His forehead reminds us of Star Trek namely the Klingon.
